"It's true what they say, 'the grass is always greener', and you don't really know what it is you have until it's gone..."

This is one of Rare's lesser known characters- "Conker". First appearing in Diddy Kong racing, Conker became a popular enough character to spawn his own small series of games, the first of which being "Conker's Pocket Tales" for the Gameboy Color. Rareware intended to make a full Conker platformer similar to their other 3D platformers (notably Banjo-Kazooie and Donkey Kong 64) marketed towards children, it was originally called "Twelve Tales: Conker's Quest", but in the development process the project was made into a mature game focusing on parody, toilet humour and pop culture humour. This game was released as "Conker's Bad Fur Day." and became a controversial legend in the gaming community for its humour and language. Behind the controvery however, CBFD is a gem of a platformer, the humour (while sometimes quite stupid) is genuinely funny and there are plenty of nods to movies, games, and even English culture. The platforming elements are unique as well as solid, the story and the characters are very memorable, and the world in which everything takes place is lively and fun to explore. It is unfortunate that CBFD is as short as it is, this might be due to the lack of true collectables (again, like the ones in B-K and DK64) but the shorter gameplay is made up for by the oddly intriguing story and characters, and the humour of course.
CBFD was supposed to have a sequel (a name was even trademarked by Rareware; "Conker's Other Bad Day") but this was scrapped for unknown reasons (probably something to do with Rareware's transfer from Nintendo to Microsoft.)
All in all, if you don't know who Conker is or you haven't heard of his short-lived game franchise, you should definatly do some research on it if not just for interest's sake.
