Constantine, or Konstantinos (Κωνσταντῖνος) VI was a Byzantine and Eastern Roman emperor of the 8th century. He was the son of Irene of Athens but proved incapable of governance. He lost to the Bulgars at the Battle of Marcellae. He was incredibly cruel to his uncle and father's half-brothers by having their eyes and tongues removed. He was eventually blinded and imprisoned by his mother, Irene of Athens.
