I haven't made many skins yet, so please let me know what I can do to improve! I wanted something cute and not super gendered and I wear overalls like this all the time, so that's what I did! :D

Software - I used GIMP to edit the textures and Blockbench to preview it and see where different parts of the base image end up. Both are free and I recommend them! I would also recommend this video on how to set GIMP up for doing pixel art - it helped me a lot. <3

If you would like to edit it yourself, there's a plain layer for the base skintone in the .xcf file for GIMP in the links above, and then a layer of noise to add a bit of texture - the clothes and face expression goes on top so it's easy to change those or keep them the same as you like. The best way I've found to change the skin tone so far is to use the paint bucket on the solid layer and then mess around with the blending Mode on the noise layer until it looks right. It's also possible to generate a new noise layer by going to Filters > Noise > CIE Ich Noise and playing around with the values until it looks good. I like to do that on a new layer, because that way I can make it a little noisier than I want and then adjust the opacity to get it just right. (I also did a few little edits to the noise with the pencil and recommend previewing it to see where that might be needed.)
