When a unknown virus began infecting the country... The military began conducting studies on the virus that had wiped out the population. Eventually they developed a cure that could save the remaining lives from the apocalypse. Unfortunately the cure backfired and crated a new evolution of infected. The Hunter, as they called it, was faster and deadlier than any other type. Then when a mad scientist was given orders to find a way to kill the hunters he genetically modified them to become Devourers. They were able to wipe out the entire military and kill almost all the survivors.
