About Drift
Drift is (presumably) a former Decepticon who first appeared in Transformers: Age of Extinction. Drift arrived on Earth some time after the Battle of Chicago and was seen reuniting with the surviving Autobots upon receiving a message from Optimus Prime. Drift later helped Bumblebee rescue Cade from KSI Headquarters and was present when Optimus tamed the Dinobots, riding the Dinobot Slug into battle against Galvatron and his army. Drift wielded a variety of swords and turned into both a Bugatti Veyron and a helicopter.
How this skin relates to Feudal Japan
Movie Drift, like previous iterations on the character, carries heavy japanese inspiration. The movie version of the character takes this the farthest though, his entire character is based on a Samurai. Drift even drops a Haiku in the film, which is quoted above. With so much inspiration taken from Japanese culture, Drift is a perfect character for this theme.
Making this skin
After deciding on Drift after about 12 seconds of seeing the theme, one of the biggest struggles for this skin was finding the proper reference. Fortunately, after a good amount of searching, I came across the gallery for Prime 1 Studio's Drift statue, which was a perfect guide for making this skin. My favorite part of this skin is definitely the armor on his upper legs and arms, which used the layered effect to make it look just like his Samurai armor in the film.
