Thanks to everyone who gave a diamond, I've become a finalist! I appreciate you all, thanks everyone!

The Farlander roams the remnants of the world. The darkness of humanity fallen to a revoked planet of endless ruin and destruction. Not many live to this day, but the Farlander is one of them. No one knows much about him; he's fast, as a startled animal. He acts very much like one as well. He never is around other people. He dashes through rubble, searching for anything to live on; food, shelter, water. He never carries a weapon, and barely carries anything else. All he has fits in the pouch on his hip, otherwise he uses it then and there. He carries on light. He never speaks. He's quick, like a dash of fresh wind lost with the life of millions.
The night it hit - the apocalypse, that is - the world resorted to chaos. The door was blown down by the winds of fate as order left in a flare of light, leaving the entire world to it's doom. The way it started, you ask? Well, let me start where the story begun.
It was a normal day, or mostly normal, I should say. Men drove to work, children played, the sun glared upon the peaceful planet we called home. It was marvelous, World War III had passed and the world was under the rule of a single Grandmaster. Peace was eminent across the planet, no one fought, no one complained. Everyone had a job, everyone had enough money to live life well. Until the World and Space Study Laboratory reported an emergency; a massive meteor was glaring it's way to our home planet. It was on a direct collision course with our Moon, which could have fatal impacts on Earths rotational system. After several weeks, the WSSL was unable to produce a solution. The meteor stuck, smashing the Moon to many pieces; one of which, a very large one at that, collided with eastern Africa. The impact destroyed much of the continent, and caused a massive worldwide earthquake. Cities crumbled, homes were flattened. Millions died, all lost their belongings, and the world's governmental system collapsed with the rest of the planet. To add to the horror, the impact threw Earths rotation off slightly, thus creating longer, hotter days and nights as the planet slowly yet surely shifted to a fifty-year collision course with the Sun.
A while ago I was working on a "spy" skin, but I gave up on it not long after starting. When the contest came out, I opened it up, erased most of what I had, and redid the whole thing using a similar concept; this is how it turned out!
