I think the lag comes from loading up a world for the first time on 1.8, same thing happened to me, I loaded a new world and it's fine, though it's different for every computer so it may be caused by soemthing else.

It's constant for me, but I don't know what's causing it.
Maybe something to do with them fixing those random black areas you see arund the world, because last time they tried to fix that, they said it caused a bunch of lag.
