No, this isn't a "fakemon".

Honoguma was a fire type starter pokemon in early beta versions of Pokemon Gold/Silver. Although it looks like a Raichu, Honoguma is in fact a bear, not a rodent. Eventually, Cyndaquil took Honoguma's place, and this poor guy became a pokemon that never was. Not much else is really known about him except he may have been given at level 8, and known the typical starting moves (Scratch, leer, ember, and possibly smokescreen, although I'm not entirely sure on the last move).

You are free to use this skin as you please. However, you may not claim ownership of the skin, nor may you upload it to other sites.

Although it was never released, Honoguma most likely is still property of Nintendo/GameFreak. Who knows, maybe someday he'll officially become a Pokemon.

I'm not entirely sure why they cut poor Honoguma out. I guess it's because of the striking resemblance to Raichu (they look identical really). Plus the initial design is rather plain (even by gen 1's standards).

I'd like to be able to use this in game, but here we are, 3 generations later, and he still isn't in the game. It's unlikely at this point he'll ever be added in.

I'm glad that Honoguma was Replaced, because if he was not replaced my favorite Pokemon of all time might not exist. Still, it would be Awesome if they kinda Re-designed Honoguma and made him a Official Pokemon =J

Cyndaquil and its evolution family do look a lot better than Honoguma honestly. So it's probably for the best. But yeah, at this point, unlikely that they'll be adding him back in. If they were, he would have most likely been in Ruby/Sapphire.

It's an image of what Honoguma looks like, according to some old concept art. Google him if you're unsure. It really does exist.

Yeah it's kind of a shame that he was canned during development. He still exists in the large, unused pokemon concept ideas Nintendo has, so maybe he'll be in gen 6. Though by the looks of things, probably not. It looks too similar to Raichu. It might as well be a Raichu that's a fire type.
