Character Backstory
Hubert Wilberforce was a village fletcher, he wasn’t very wealthy but he got by well. One day he got mad at his wife then ran off for some time to think, he ran and hid in a cave till nightfall. After a while, he got tired of being in that horrid cave so he left to go and apologize to his wife while walking home he saw three figures. One had a banner on its head, the other 2 followed holding bow-like weapons. They were Illagers! In his desperate attempt to hide he accidentally took a wrong step and snapped a twig. The Illager patrol turned and looked over! Hubert knew that if he didn’t move he would get caught and killed. He quickly without a sound got up and tried to run but, he slipped on the wet, dense mud embedded in the ground. He then fell and hit his head on a log. Once he awoke, he saw the three figures he tried to run but instead hit a bar. He was in a cage. “What do you want from me!” cried Hubert. “We just want to help you become more wealthy.” said the banner holding Illager. “If that was true then why am I in a cage!” Hubert exclaimed. “We knew that once you woke you would try to fight us off, but we just want to talk.” said the Illager patrol. The Illagers let him free and sent him back to his village with 30 emeralds they hoped that with that profit he wouldn’t say anything to the rest of the village. As Hubert promised he didn’t speak a word of that night. A few weeks later Hubert woke up to the sound of the village bell. Following it came a horn, but not just any horn, an Illager horn. Hubert scrambled out of bed to check on his wife. She was gone! He ran out of the front door to see a giant beast. He had never seen anything like it. It then shot toward the front gate, which was known to be impenetrable. Next came a BOOM. In seconds the gate was reduced to splinters. On top of this beast rode a Pillager, one of the best archers in the land. Hubert looked to his left and saw his wife taking cover behind a pole. He tried to run to help her but when he got a few meters from her, SWISH. She fell to her knees, then in seconds, she poofed into smoke. “No!” cried Hubert. He rushed inside, grabbed his iron sword, then rushed out the door. Wanting revenge Hubert ran towards the Pillager, grabbed the bow straight from his hands then with a quick SWOOSH. The Evil Illager then faded into smoke. With the loud clatter of feet the large, hideous beast rushed towards him and clutched Hubert between its horns and BANG. Flung Hubert right into the hard, thick stone wall. When Hubert awoke he looked around and saw flames and bodies everywhere, everyone in the village was dead. He sat on the ground for a good minute but after a while, he decided he had to find help that’s when he remembered there was a village very close to his called Sunset Village. He stood up and walked through the remains of what used to be his village he stumbled through the torn down front gate then he saw it. The enormous stone brick wall that enclosed Sunset Village. Weary and weak he shuffled towards the village, what made it all the worse was that the entrance to the village was on the other side of the wall from the direction facing his village. After a long exhausting walk, he finally made it to the front gate, approaching the front gate the first thing you see is an archer post. Hubert was trying to find a bell he could ring or anything to get the guard’s attention when suddenly a voice rang from the top of the wall. “State your business traveler or be on your way!” “I just need somewhere to stay my village has just recently been raided an…” “Wait you’re that one guy who made a deal with the Illagers!” the voice exclaimed. “You’re not welcome here, goodbye!” Hubert filled with rage and furious the village wouldn’t let him in, he stormed over to the Illager’s Outpost seeking help. As he approached the tall dark post he noticed an Illager standing tall on the top floor of the outpost. The Illager raises his hand and reveals a horn. The Illager blows the horn and same as the raid sound, it struck Hubert’s ears. Pillagers and Vindicators came storming out of the outpost “I don’t mean trouble I just need somewhere to stay.” cried Hubert. SWISH! One arrow was shot then others followed. The Vindicators raised their axes and zoomed towards him. Hubert scrambled to cover as quickly as possible. When suddenly a skeleton appeared out of nowhere and was immediately shot down. Hubert reached over and grabbed the bow the skeleton dropped. With a leap of faith, Hubert jumped out of his hiding spot and began to shoot back. Overwhelmed, Hubert turned and tried to escape but the Illagers stayed in pursuit shots were fired, but every time the Illagers missed. There was a small water hole next to Sunset Village’s wall he leaped into the hole and down into the water. There were iron bars in the hole stopping people form swimming into the village, however, there was a 1-meter long gap just big enough for Hubert to fit through. He proceeded to swim through the hole and out to the other side. Lucky for him it was getting dark and Hubert was pretty sneaky, he was still furious with the village for not letting him in when he was in need. He then walked to a small village house, the window was open he leaned in the window and saw a villager laying in bed. He then said, “Go to sleep.” he then shot the villager right in the head. He quietly walked over to what seemed to be a castle, once he entered, he saw a small desk sitting in front of a window, on the desk was a book and quill. He proceeded to walk towards a bookcase when suddenly he heard snoring, he turned and looked and saw a villager in a king outfit, asleep in bed. Hubert knew that if he was caught he would be in trouble but now he would probably be given a death sentence! He walked in a small room, which had armor in it there was one outfit that caught his eye though, it was a small golden tunic with arrows strapped to the back. He took the outfit off the stand and tried it on, it fit perfectly, to hopefully help to blend into the village he kept it. He slept leaning up against one of the houses, in the morning he woke up to a sharp pain on his leg there were two figures, one had an engineer shirt the other wore a blue flannel with the sleeves rolled up. The one in the engineer shirt spoke, “Get out of my village before I slice your head clean off.” Hubert stood up and was escorted to the front gate, Hubert swore from that day on he would shatter any life that Sunset Village had.
