I started by filling in one side with green, one side with pink and shaded the arms from both sides individually.
Then I filled in the parts where the colors met with a color somewhere between the two shades (purple in this case) and shaded that in-between color with hues from both sides (pink highlights on the face, green shadows everywhere with blue and darker purple thrown in to make the transition smoother).
The pants were a bit different, I started with the same in-between color (deep blue) and shaded each leg with pink and green.
