A few months ago, a sub suggested I make a hummingbird skin. I thought the idea was interesting but probably not possible. I made a quick frontal view in under 5 minutes and then gave up on the idea because looked like it would be really complicated and people wouldn't recognize it as a hummingbird. I found the quick sketch the other day and decided that I would try making the skin using what I had learned in the interim. Here is the original quick sketch and the finished ruby throated hummingbird after about 10 hours of work. I am happy with the finished product, although I couldn't come up with a good way to make the long beak.

Oops, flubbed the inside of the wing. Fixed the shading there and added red pixels to the corners on the underside of the head.
