E-200 (The False Memories)

Description

E-200, also referred to by the nickname 'The False Memories' is currently the seventh and final entity to roam Section E for now and is also the second doppelgänger-type entity of the section, appearing 140 rooms ahead of the first one, E-60. It was one of the first three entities to roam the section along with the aforementioned entity and E-1 in a line-up identical to the original Rooms with the inclusion of the latter entity.[1] It is also another reverse-movement type entity similarly to E-144 and its Section A counterpart, A-200. This entity makes its debut upon the opening of room E-200, where a very loud elevator-like beep sound can be heard denoting its presence. It will be seen remaining stationary at the middle of the newly-opened room for three seconds before backtracking into the section — about 30 rooms — while emitting distorted sounds reminiscent of wind before playing its despawn cue, a very heavily edited and bass-boosted Macintosh Classic II Crash Chime. Though it is worth noting that this is a false despawn cue and after playing said cue, it will start coming back while letting out new sounds, such being various quiet whispers that can be heard emitted by Noah. After reaching its destination, it will play the same despawn cue at a noticeably higher pitch where it will actually despawn. E-200 is also a decently rare entity, always appearing at room E-200 but it may not even make another appearance until rooms above E-300 which in turn makes it a fairly medium-to-survive entity and one players could worry about.

Despite its infrequent appearances, defending oneself against E-200 requires decent reaction time due to giving players less time to hide when compared to E-144, who gives the players 5 seconds to hide (2 seconds more than the former). It can also catch players off-guard because of this as its appearance can be extremely sudden it may cause the player to brought out of focus. Regardless, this entity is a fairly easy one to deal with, since it is also a bit slow and due to the fact it doesn't have a seeking mechanic like A-200 does if a player leaves their hiding spot. When compared to other reverse-movement entities (e.g. A-200, removed entity A-246, and E-144), E-200 is easier to deal with since it will not directly come back to the player for leaving their hiding spots during its after-pranked phase. Beginners may have some trouble dealing with the entity due to its stupefying nature, but it shouldn't be an issue later on as players grow accustomed to it. This entity is currently the last of its section, the next entity making its appearance past room E-399 and just a few doors into the next section, V-5.

Appearance

E-200's appearance is meant to pertain to the aesthetic referred to by "Weirdcore" [2] given its surreal and unsettling nature, as well as its use of sounds from older technology, in this case a computer. It appears to be a hollow smiling face with a static-like effect, its eyes appear to be melting in a way given by the numerous lines of white glitch-like runoff. Upon a closer look, there are more realistic eyes at the middle of the "normal" eyes acting sort of like pupils as well a much larger eye at the middle of its mouth. It emits a very bright white glow reminiscent of A-200 with a noticeably smaller yellow aura behind it. It possesses a considerably much more disturbing look than the latter.

Strategy & Tips

  • E-200 will always spawn at E-200, so players can use this information by immediately turning towards a nearby locker upon opening room E-200 in order to hide from the entity immediately before it travels back through the rooms.
  • Players should remain hidden from E-200, as it will always play a fake despawn cue to kill unsuspecting players. It is safe to get out of your hiding spot when E-200 plays an identical sound cue with a noticeably higher pitch, which tells the player that E-200 has truly despawned.
  • Unlike E-144, who gives the player approximately five seconds to hide when it spawns, E-200 give the player only about 1 second to react to it, so players should quickly seek the nearest locker whenever they hear E-200's spawn cue and see him.
  • Another strategy similar to one used to counter E-144, players can turn and face a nearby locker whenever opening a new door in case E-200 or E-144 spawns. This can be useful to players when reaching later rooms like E-300 to avoid losing their progress when the entities sometimes catch them off guard.
  • E-200 usually spawns twice in one run.

Notes

  • E-200 will always play a false despawn cue, as well as it returning to the latest room.
  • As of the second part of the Entity Extravaganza update, E-200 gives players much more time to hide, making it less threatening to beginners, so they can figure out what to do.
  • This entity becomes significantly infrequent past its advent at room E-200, only appearing 1-3 more times further into the section.

Trivia

  • E-200 is one of the few monsters with a unique jumpscare.
    • It also has the longest jumpscare in the game at approximately 5.52 seconds, the second being A-350 at around 4.3 seconds.
  • E-200's despawning sound is heavily distorted, cooler and louder Macintosh crash chime sound as described above.
    • Its fake despawn cue is the same sound, though supposedly pitched down to 0.97.
  • The background image in which E-200 does its first jumpscare is at Parkway Drugs, Albany St, Utica, New York.
  • Zvardin has given some entities nicknames like how A-60 (The Multi-Monster) and A-200 (The Happy Scribble) have nicknames. E-200 is one of those entities, with the given nickname being "The False Memories". [3]
  • When E-200 jumpscares the player, it will now show an image of Arsenal Tube Station.
    • The exact correlations between this entity and these environments are unknown (like its origin), though certain sound effects may indicate subtle relation.
  • During its jumpscare sequence, various whispers can be heard muttering the words "It's a dream."
  • E-200 knows almost every entity. [4]
  • As said in the appearance section, three inverted realistic eyes can be seen in the place of its pupils and the middle of its mouth.
  • E-200 can be triggered to spawn if a door that was automatically closed is opened again.
  • It is the only entity that is aware it is inside of a video game.
  • E-200's sound origin is derived from the Sad Mac sound.
  • It is also one of, if not the only entity with the ability to read minds. (Citation(s) needed)
  • E-200 can only "speak" in wingdings and symbols, thus it needs to write what it wants to say in order to communicate with other entities, said here.
  • According to Zvardin, E-200 plays UNO and wins all the time.
  • E-200 is the oldest entity, being 1000 years old.[5]
  • E-200 is the second most powerful entity first being A-350.[6]
  • E-200 is the second entity that will get their design changed in the update, The first being X-10.
  • E-200's new appearance, besides being a little unsettling, looks 3D compared to other entities.
  • According to Ch0phva, if you look at E-200 animation, it will looks like a hundered of ants are crawling on it.
