The year is 2259, crime and underground trades are thriving throughout the city. Illegal kiosks are tucked away in alleyways, criminal agents are running throughout the city, but most importantly the Cyberpits, the underground gambling ring made for robot fights, are concealed in abandon buildings.
The pit walls are lined up with multitudes of various men and women; most of them burly and colossal in stature. The swirl of people surround a small circle of four combatants. On one side sits a man of similar stature to the rest; tall and thickset. He sits there with a demonic-looking robot packed with an assortment of blades, saws, spades, and claws. Parallel to this man sits the reigning champion of the Cyberpits; a young girl by the name of Io Caldera. Despite her dainty-yet-punk-like figure, she had been the victor for over 67 matches, with this one marking a 68th. Unlike a majority of the Cyberpit associates who simply buy and steal their fighters, Io has technological prowess which she used to create an adequate robot, adaptable to any fighting condition. Io was a young orphan girl who eventually, at the age of seven, was sold into slavery working various "production lines". After suffering a hand injury at the age of fourteen, she was seen as unfit to work and was thrown out into the alleys, left to wither and die alone. While most people would give up and fade away, Io lived in the alleyways feeding off of scraps until she stumbled upon the fighting arenas. Using mechanical and electrical pieces scraped off of cars and defunct robots along with her knowledge from the production lines, she spent months creating her champion robot. Entering the circle she was pushed around and laughed at until given a chance. Thus, after virtually crushing her enemy's 'bot, her life-changing career began.


Tl; dr: Young, but intelligent, punk-type orphan girl is the champion of cyberpunk robot fighting.
