Umm, hey peeps. Today I'd like to talk about something very important to me. The Amazon Rainforest. In there, lives 1,500 different species of birds, and people who have lived there for thousands of years. Did you know 50% of the oxygen you breathe in comes from the Amazon? No joke! The Amazon river carries more water than any other river in the world, and it's the second largest river, next to the Nile river in Eygpt.
There's just one problem. The Amazon is so rich and filled with wonders, that everyone wants to have it. The timber industry is cutting down trees, and the soil there is so rich farmers want to use it. Farmers are burning down trees there, which not only distrupts the plant and navtives' and animals lives, but all those chemicals are rising in our atmosphere, when then mght cause a world-wide problem! The Brazilian government (because the Amazon is in Brazil), is trying to help but is also causing problems. That government is trying to get electricity to the natives who have lived there for thousand of years. The Brazilian government is trying to use water power from the Amazon river to create electricity, so they've built in some dams, which help one person but harm another. Could you imagine waking up and your house be flooded? That's what's happening!
