Kalypsis

The Kalypsis were once human beings but then there was the war. The war ended most of civilization and plunged the world into a Nuclear Winter. The Radiation from this war was how the Kalypsis race was born. This radiation accelerated the rate of mutations experienced by a small group of Humans and caused them to evolve into a new race that was far better suited to living in this harsh frozen world. The Kalypsis have a thick skin that helps prevent them the UV radiation that seeps through the now destroyed Ozone layer. Ithis Skin has also gained an ability to asborb sunlight to help regulate body temperature. This combined with the thick fur that covers parts of the Kalypsis' bodies help them remain warm in their cold surroundings. The Kalypsis eyes have also mutated to allow them to see in the dark and to see Infra red, allowing them to more easily hunt no mater the time of day. The fur on their feet also allows them to walk stealthier and provides protection. The Kalypsis also have four thumbs each with a small claw on the end instead of five fingers. This allows extra dexterity, no one knows why this mutation occurred, but it did. Kalypsis are still capable of Human speech though they have their own languange. The Kalypsis are one of the few species in the tundra that are Friendly with Humans.
