This is an innocent little girl who has been lost in the mine, and this is her story, told by the miner who found her.

"It was an ordinary day in the mine. I had my tools prepared and ready to stock up on some iron ore, and who knew what else. Unfortunately, I was running low on torches, but I had enough visibility to see the larger than average iron deposit up ahead. It was as I was mining I felt something strange... Now anyone who has had experience down in the mines before would tell you of surprise attacks from Skeletons, Zombies, and even Creepers... We've all seen it before, but this was different. I looked around, but there wasn't anything there. I blocked off my exits with some gravel, and lighting up now small shelter I had made for myself with my last torch. It wasn't much but hey, out of sight, out of mind.

As I continued digging, I had that feeling again, and it kept getting worse. I hurriedly dug up the rest of the iron, probably even leaving some behind, but it didn't matter, I just had to get out. I turned around no sooner after gathering the last of my ore when I was startled by what appeared to be a girl, no more than a child. I was still a little shook up, I didn't expect anyone to be in here, but it didn't end there, oh no. I grabbed my torch so I could get a better look at her and I nearly dropped my torch at the sight of her.

She was completely covered from head to toe in dirt, soot, and anything else you could imagine being here. If that wasn't enough, her clothes were ripped and scratches with caked on blood crusted onto the wounds. Her hair was a soggy, dirty mess that draped down past her shoulders, that also had blood on in too... and on her face, and down her eyes as if they were tears. I threw up a little in my mouth just thinking what she had been through, alone, lost, scared, and she could do nothing but cry until her eyes couldn't anymore... Those eyes that looked into me, they seemed hopeless, almost soulless. The effects these mines can have on a person...

Now the one thing I should have wondered was, how did she even get in here? The exits were still intact, untouched even. But at this time, I couldn't think straight. This poor girl was in such a poor state that she didn't look like she could make it for too much longer. But... what happened next, oh yeah, you better sit down for this one.

I tried to talk to her, tell her that things will be okay, but she didn't move a muscle. She looked scared, yet she wasn't shaking. Her eyes still gazing at me, never shifting her focus elsewhere, nor blinking. She was beginning to scare me now,but the poor thing must have been traumatized beyond belief. I took one of my porkchops and handed it to her, but she didn't acknowledge it, almost as if she didn't see it. I laid it on the ground and began digging out my exit.

'Alright, if we just follow this trail of torches we should be-' I was saying as I grabbed her hand, which was then followed by an excruciating pain. I shine my torch on her and she was sinking her teeth into my hand. I attempted to shove her away in a panic, and as I did she tore quite a considerable hunk of flesh off of my hand. She began to chew, then spit out the remains next to the porkchop. I had given her some food, yet she's attacking me? Let alone trying to eat me! Those eyes were still focused on me, but this time with the intent to kill. This was no innocent girl, not anymore. I took out my sword and warded off another attack as she lunged at me. I kicked her off and swung my sword at her, adding another scrape to her already wounded body which at this point I can only assume were from other miners who shared the same fate. The attack left her stunned and I ran out of the mine as fast as possible, not even bothering to seal the exit."

I rubbed my hand as I finished telling my tale, reflecting on what had happened. Is it possible she was just an innocent child driven mad by the instinct to survive, or was she truly a being of evil?
