This has good shading why don't you have the same amount of shading in you second?

Your shading is too regular and gradient in my opinion. Try to make it more like the way it should realistically be, by paying attention to where shadows would actually apear on it. Also, desaturate colors like that red a little, it looks a bit harsh right now. :)

You can find a lot of tutorials if you search through this thread. Also, look through the profiles of good skinners, many of them have made quite a few tutorials, such as Leostereo, Peytonisgreat, Sneeze7 and many more.
