Hmm... you should practice more about shading. If my guess were true... you can learn to use "Hue-shifting" technique and you should try to learn how to add some shade of shadow on your skin. Using shadow will make your skin looks more 3-D or catch eyes easier. :)

This was actually my first attempt on hue shifting, didn't have much of an idea of it though! I read the_soup's tutorial and it still looked kinda hard to me :))

I didn't use hue-shifting technique much except shading gold and rusty looking thing. Yeah, it's quite hard but it's fun to do. :D
