Possums

Possums, particularly the Virginia opossum, are fascinating creatures! They are the only marsupials native to North America and are known for their unique defense mechanism of "playing dead" to avoid predators. Possums have a remarkable immune system, making them resistant to rabies and snake venom. They are also excellent at controlling pests, as they eat ticks and insects. While they can be found year-round, they are often associated with spring seasonally, as this is when they breed and their young joeys emerge, enhancing the cycle of nature.
