Roman Auxillary

The Roman auxillary is useualy made up of foregion recruits made from levying in Rome's outter provices of occupation. Mostly regimented with large oval shields with spears on the flanks or equiped with recurve bows and become archers. Auxillarys often joined the legion through press-gang or by the promise of becoming a roman citizen the best reward for any joining the legion (should they serve 20 years) but dispite their unroman origin they were both well off and equiped.

His outfit : A heavy chainmail halberk collered with his uniform shall. comming from under his skirt he wears linin cloth pants and fur boots for those cold germanic night ..or days. Around his waist is a thick leather belt with an iron buckle. His wrists bound in bronze guards with his head crowned with a bronxe helmet with cheek guards.
Weapons would be a spear or gladius (shortsword) and a large oval shield. If trained as an archer he would have a recurve bow with quiver hanging of his belt, but if asighned to the light cavalry he would retain the spear and shield or maybe have a spatha (long gladius).
