Roxanne was an orphan. She lived in an orphanage with her best friend, Layla. "Roxy, when do you think we'll be adopted?" Layla always asked.If we even get adopted together Roxy thought. Layla was smart, beautiful, kind, and everything else everyone wanted in a child. Roxy wasn't stupid, she wasn't ugly, she wasn't mean, but she always came second place in everything. Why would anyone want her?

Soon an adult came to adopt Layla. Layla and Roxanne cried a bit, but Layla soon left, just as Roxy suspected. But soon another adult came in. The adult was just like her - second place in everything. Roxy got adopted by the adult! And it even turned out that Roxy's new home was right next to Layla's!
