Sally's Story
" Sally, I'll be out for a bit. Stay here and watch Tickles!" said the voice of a man. This man was a man named Luis Rivers, a father of a single child. Sally Rivers, his only daughter, was only 9 at the time and had a male ginger cat named Tickles. Tickles was cuddling up next to Sally's bed, a small bed with pink blankets and green pillows. Sally gave her father a hug and a kiss as he reached for the doorknob. " Daddy, when will you be back? " asked Sally. Her father gave a deep sigh and looked down at her. "I'd  love to give you an answer, but I truly don't know. For now, I have to go... I love you, Sally."  He said as he left. 

To pass the time, Sally had decided to play with her new dolls she had gotten for her birthday. One of the dolls had long, beautiful, silver hair and a blue and orange dress.  The other doll she owned  had  short, black hair and  a  white shirt and black pants. Sally also owned a large toy palace for the dolls to play in. She liked to pretend that one of her teddy bears was going to eat the princess, and the other doll saved the princess.  She had been playing with her dolls for half an hour now, and she decided to check out the window for her dad. Still, thre was nothing. Sally started to become worried.

Hours had passed, without any sign of her father. Sally had decided to venture outside and go see her father. She open the door, an automatically felt the freezing winds in her face. Confusion ran over Sally. Why is it so cold outside, it's summer! She though to herself. She immediately ran inside, closing the door behind her. Sally flopped on her forest green couch, and covered herself with dark red blankets. She turned on the television and switched the channel to the news. Sally listened carefully to what the woman on the screen was saying. "After 7 years of fighting, our country was won the battle known as "The Nuclear War". Many people from our city fought in the war, but only some lived to tell the story.  Somehow, there has been some sort of extreme climate change across the world after the war. In SkyeBrooke (aka the city), there has been more than 20 injuries and 3 deaths connected to this weather, inluding Luis J. Rivers." A photo of Luis appeared on the screen, with his wife, who Sally had never met. Sally quickly recognized her father, and started to cry under her covers. She was now truly alone in this nuclear winter, and nobody could help her.
