Solomon Northup was a free man, but got kidnapped and sold into slavery for 12 years. When he became free again, he wrote a book called 12 Years a Slave. In 2013, the movie "12 Years a Slave" was based on himself played by Chiwetel Ejiofor. This movie got Best Picture, and I think it was a good movie except some of the scenes were hard to watch. I recommend watching it if you are allowed to.
