Suzaku Kururugi the son of the last Japanese Prime Minister Genbu Kururugi, Suzaku was Lelouch's first friend after he was sent to the Six House of Kyoto as a political hostage. Originally he was an arrogant and prideful child, however when the war came to Japan and his fathercommittedsuicide in order to stop the fighting he become a humble and noble person. Seperated from Lelouch and the other members of Kyoto who went into hiding, he wound up in the Britannian Military which he was committed to changing for the sake of Area 11, (formerly Japan) and for atonement for the events of the war.
He eventually meets with his old friend Lelouch in the worst possible scenario, the recovery of Code-R's test subject C.C. and the crackdown on the Shinjuko ghetto. There he once again loses Llouch after being shot sacrificing his safety for Lelouch and C.C.. He is protected by the watch he kept as a memento and wakes up in the field hospital to the smiling face of his to be sociopath of a boss Lloyd who offers him the key to the experimental Knightmare Frame Lancelot.
Suzaku, then uses the Lancelot to turn the tide of the battle back onto the side of the Britannians from the destruction and disarray Lelouch and the rag tag group of terrorists headed by Kaname Ougi. From there he begins his trail into history, where he will become the hope of the world, and the slayer of the demon emperor. However to get there friends will be betrayed, loves destroyed, empires will fall and the world will be tipped upside down. These events may be out of his control but he shall be one of the most important cogs in the greatmachine that is fate whether he realises this or not
