Miner's Avarice, commonly referred to as gemtraps are a carnivorous chthonic species known for their imitation of stone alongside precious gemstones and metals to lure in human prey, along with other underground animals lured in by their glistening faux-minerals. While often depicted as an incredibly accurate imitator, the beast takes advantage of its dim settings, with lower visibility allowing it to more easily fool prey rather than any grace in its deception. When carcasses are brought above surface and into the light the species' leathery hide and more shell like gems, not to mention large, jaggedly toothed mouth, looking very little like a rich vein or ore or gemstone.
Despite this less than perfect guise, the species can still lure even human prey into its range in darker caverns or tunnels. While usually laying prone waiting for prey, when active the species can stand at over two meters tall, with a striking range of over six meters, along with impressive strength and speed. For those who have journeyed to close to one however, combat is ill-advised, with its hide and fake bounty creating impressive armour while it overpowers any human. Instead one should withdraw, taking advantage of its poor eyesight and cumbersome demeanor. However, like most dangerous beasts the best guard against the creature is simple avoidance, with the species being easily identified to an experienced eye, along with avoiding well lit areas.

And hey, actually made a new skin, maybe I'm not completely dead on this site
