The elements: fire, water, earth, and air, were fighting every day. That was... until the people asked a wise wizard to stop them. The wizard came to the elements and the first thing he tried was to ask politely, but the elements wouldn't stop. When they kept fighting, the wizard cast a spell on them which made the elements combine and said, "You must learn to work together and help each other, because if you don't, you'll be stuck like that forever."
Even though they wanted to be free from the spell, it took a long time before they did, since before the wizard came, the elements were always arguing among themselves everywhere day and night. Soon, the people called them "The Checkered Elements".
To make the skin, I combined the elements: fire and water for the head, earth and air for the middle part of the skin, and last but not least I combined all of them together for the pants/legs.
