Thonolan (Kick Master)

A lone martial artist races through the woods, bringing the wicked wastrels of the world to heel, ground beneath his own. Thonolan, the lone survivor of a rescue mission led by his older brother, must brave the minions of the vile sorceress Belzed in a bid to recover the kingdom of Lowrel's sole heiress. His titular mastery of kick-centric combat is his greatest weapon, but he'll learn many a magic spell to aid his quest.

I keep seeing Kick Master referred to as a "Castlevania ripoff," and I think this is wildly unfair. Their similarities begin and end at being slow action platformers with selectable sub-weapons and light RPG elements. Maybe if I played more of it, I might change my mind on that, but it just seems like people perpetuating one of those terms meant to dismiss something as "unworthy" by comparison.

Though, to be fair, if I'd never played Famicom Fighters, I might never have learned about Kick Master. Thanks for that, KingPepe!
