This here is my entry for Sushifox's contest - my turtle pet from real life. His name is Tiki.
My family bought him many, many years ago. Possibly ten years or so. It was my brother's idea to have one. I had no thoughts on the matter; if he wanted a turtle, he could have it. We've always thought Tiki was a female, until we informed ourselves quite late that it was male because of the middle straight lane under his shell.
There was also a time in which he was "lost" when we brought him on a holiday house. He wasn't exactly lost, he just buried himself under the house's garden to hibernate from the summer heat and he couldn't be found. By the time he was, it had already passed half a year.
My brother has recently lost the interest of taking care of him - when my parents and I heard him saying it, we were utterly shocked. So now it's my responsibility to take care of Tiki.
