I spent over an hour tonight making this because I was tired of my old skin. Based on Koopa Troopa from the Super Mario Bros series.

When you press shift/sneak his mouth opens and his eyes raise in surprise! AAAahhhhh!

This skin did not even make it into the Top 100 on the Video Game Skin Contest. I am calling shenanigans. THEY LET THREE YOSHI SKINS IN THE TOP 100!!!!!! WTF?

In regards to what you mentioned on the forums, I think the term originality is misconstrued by a number of people. In this context it boils down to that it means that you made it yourself, and it is not a copy, therefore it is an original skin. Originality any other way means everyone has to make up a fictional game to reference it with. I'm good, but not THAT good :P

As for all those Yoshi, Pokemon, and Skyrim Dovakiin skins, well, they are good skins, as is yours, but they can't fit everyone in so they have to make the tough call on who to move up and who to drop.

So instead of picking 1 of the yoshi skins, they let 3 in. Along with a slew of other repeats. Its just a slap in the face to everyone else who entered with more original and creative skins.

Well that's the thing really. The initial top 100 is based on the skins own popularity (diamonds, views, comments, etc) and selected automatically by the site (I only found this out), after that the judges look at them to determine the top 3.

They just advertised their skin better. That is the blunt truth.

So instead of actually being based on creativity, originality, et cetera- the initial 100 is based on advertising. Shenanigans confirmed! If only I had raged BEFORE the top 100!

Well, the advertising is solely based on the creator's own drive to get the skin noticed. Having friends and subscribers push it further so that it may end up on the front page roll is the best way to get more statistics.

Having the skin get noticed on it's own accord isn't enough as no sooner that you publish it live, 10-20 more skins will be submitted in quick succession. Being swamped in a sea of average skins isn't a fun thing, but it happens.

There are a few forum threads where you can advertise your skin to gain more of a following, but it all comes down to the drive of the creator. How far are you willing to push yourself to get your creations noticed?
