If you've ever wanted to get the nostalgic feel of the alpha back without losing the content of modern minecraft, this pack is for you! This pack aims to bring back the original alpha feel. This includes changing sounds, models, lighting, textures and more! I tried to make it look as close to the alpha as possible without breaking the game.
Credits to ZOYAmiiiiix for providing me with the 2d inventory bed models and Vanillatweaks for providing some of the assets used in this pack.


Disclaimer: Small chests don't work in Optifine 1.16.5 for some reason so please use 1.16.4 and stop reporting it to me, there's nothing I can do about it. also if you want a version WITH grass, you can now pick it up from the alternate downloads.

List of changes:
  • reverted models back:
    - Cow & pig
    - Chests
    - Furnace & Stonecutter
    - Iron/Gold/Diamond blocks
    - Boats
    - Torches
    - Dropped items (are flat again)

  • changed lightmaps to resemble the lighting of alpha
  • changed night skybox to resemble alpha sky
  • changed textures back to alpha textures
  • changed texts
  • changed sounds

In order to get the most out of this pack you should use the following settings:

- programmer art resource pack enabled
- custom entity models: on
- custom skies: on
- custom fonts: on
- natural textures: off
- better grass: off
- connected textures: off
- smooth lighting: off
- language: english (US)
- optional: fov "Normal"

This resource pack was a lot of work and I hope you like it :)
If you find any bugs, let me know!


The only thing which didn't change are the 3d beds which turned out to be too difficult for me. if anyone wants to do it themselves I'll update this pack and give you credit.

- changed raw ores to the original ore blocks but kept the name to avoid confusion.

Hello! I would like to ask you one question. The resource pack works great, is compatible with mine (and its purpose is the same as this one), but there is a problem. A large chest works great, but a small, normal one has a black-purple texture. I looked in the files but everything is in place, how to solve my problem? Just do not write - Delete everything from the cem folder ... If there is a SOLUTION to the problem, please respond! (please excuse my english)

buddy, can you upload vesrion just without old chest model?

I want to play 1.17.1 with this resource pack, but problem with small chest saved at this version too.

I tried to delete chest textures and modeles myself but I failed :D

(sorry for my bad english)

go to alpha-rebooted\assets\minecraft\optifine\cem and delete the chest folder aswell as all the other files with chest in the name.

I have a feeling that the chest issue might be a compiler error, which would make all other coding work, but something might destroy its execution on other versions, Id recommend looking at some other alpha like programming to see what might be the issue, other than that, love the pack.

Idk it's just optifine's fault for breaking it in some update, wish it didn't though. not much I can do about it.

Hello I wanted to contact you since I love this resourcepack , I actually created a modified version of yours to please my weird needs , so I've created more or less converted the old ore textures to fit into minecraft 1.17 deepslate areas , contact me if you'd like the textures for those ores !

Loved this! I always loved the look of the alpha versions and missed it. Sadly, the chests are all glitched out and are not correct and the sand is still the new one, same with wheat and cactus, that might be because I don't have optifine, but I'm okay with that! I fully recommend it.
