Alpha Redstone is a resource pack that reverts redstone to the way it looked in Alpha.
Because I'm not allowed to distribute Mojang's textures, the pack contains a placeholder terrain.png that can be replaced with an Alpha terrain.png, or a terrain.png from a texture pack from that time.
When redstone was first added in Alpha, the textures used were an 'on' texture and an 'off' texture, with no intermediate textures.
Unlike today, the colors of the textures could be fully customized, as they did not read from a colormap.

How to get the Alpha redstone textures in this resource pack (instead of the placeholders)
1. Extract the resource pack (so you can edit the files)
2. Download an Alpha version of Minecraft that has the Alpha redstone textures: https://launcher.mojang.com/mc/game/a1.0.4/client/e5838277b3bb193e58408713f1fc6e005c5f3c0c/client.jar
3. Extract the Alpha version (renaming it from client.jar to client.zip will let you extract it if you can't)
4. Find terrain.png in the extracted Alpha version, and cut or copy it.
5. In the extracted resource pack from Step 1, go to the assets\minecraft\textures folder and paste terrain.png.
6. If prompted, select to replace the old terrain.png with the new terrain.png.
7. If you want, you can now delete the Alpha client's files, and recompress the resource pack.
