Nice model, tho i have a suggestion. you're able to make both the pumpkin and the cool helmet co-exist without optifine. i'll explain as simply as i can, using the "minecraft/models/item/carved_pumpkin.json" file you can use custom model data to replace the pumpkin ITEM to the desired model (NOTE: keep the actual helmet model elsewhere) and its formated as such

{ "predicate": {"custom_model_data": 0 }, "model": "block/carved_pumpkin" },
{ "predicate": {"custom_model_data": 1 }, "model": ">MODEL FOLDER</astronaut_helmet" }

model 0 is the normal carved pumpkin and model 1 is the helmet or whatever model it is the only negative thing about this is that you can't place the helmet on the ground, otherwise its just gonna be a carved pumpkin.

and in game you type
/give @p carved_pumpkin{CustomModelData:1}
