Does it require Optifine or something? Because it doesn't work for me. Granted, I tried it in 1.19, but I really doubt that there has been any significant changes to beds since 1.17...

yeah i dont know if we did something wrong but i tried it on 1.16.5 could it not work due to optifine maybe?
