Hrm... I like the idea of having a single universal color appear in all of the textures, however black isn't really that kind of color is it? Try like a soft brown, or perhaps an intense orange. But rather than using paint and using the bucket, try adjust each pixel of the terrain file to be more orange? I hope you understand what I'm saying!
