For all the lovers of C418's classic soundtrack, or maybe just the people that are mildly annoyed that Mojang keeps making music play in places it's obviously not supposed to (swamp music plays practically everywhere in vanilla), this pack reworks music so that old biomes don't play music that isn't written for them! Also, makes loud music quieter, and rebalances Nether Music so that C418's tracks play more often.

This pack is compatible with both Bedrock and Java Edition, but stylized after Bedrock. An explanation of what this means can be found after the features list. A version stylized after Java Edition can be found here.

Features:

  • Biomes that aren't Mangrove Swamps no longer play Swamp Music!
  • Biomes that aren't Cherry Groves no longer play Cherry Grove Music!
  • Subpack options to determine where 'A Familiar Room' plays (On Bedrock Edition).
  • Rebalanced Nether Music so that C418's tracks play more often (especially in the Wastes).
  • Caves and Cliffs music only plays in the caves and on the cliffs!
  • Quieter biome-specific music so it doesn't hurt to wear headphones and to more closely match the non-biome-specific music.
  • One More Day plays on Frozen Peaks on both editions.
What's the difference between Java Style and Bedrock Style?

Prior to 1.16, Bedrock Edition played all its music at 10% - 30% volume, but newer music plays at Java Edition's 40% - 100% volume. The 'Bedrock Style' version of the pack fixes this issue by making newer music quieter, while the 'Java Style' version fixes it by making older music louder. This is the only difference between styles.

Known Issues:
  • Due to limitations, all swamps, regardless of mangrove-ness, play Mangrove Swamp music on Java Edition.
  • Due to limitations, the lengths of the periods of silence has not been changed from vanilla on Java Edition.
  • Due to limitations, using the playsound command to play biome-specific music usually doesn't work on Java Edition.
  • The Title Screen may play an incorrect selection of tracks on versions the game does not read the pack as compatible with. Backports for game versions before multi-version packs will eventually be available.
  • Various problems may occur if using this pack with another music pack. It is suggested that you do not do this.

  • Lowered the volume of Floating Dream from 40% (vanilla) to 10% on Jagged Peaks.
  • Lowered the volume of Crescent Dunes from 30% to 10% in Deserts and Badlands.
  • Readded One More Day to Deserts and Badlands at 10% volume. Still not sure if I want it to play there or not.
  • Lowered the volumes of C418's Nether music from 100% (vanilla) to 30% (twice as loud as it was before 1.16).
  • Lowered the volumes of Rubedo, Chrysopoeia, and So Below from 50% (vanilla) to 15%.
  • Lowered the volumes of Comforting Memories, Infinite Amethyst, Left to Bloom, One More Day, Stand Tall, Wending, Bromeliad, and Echo in the Wind from 40% (vanilla) to 10% in all biomes they play in.
  • Lowered the volumes of Aerie, Firebugs, and Labyrinthine from 40% to 10% in all sound events they play in.
  • Lowered the volumes of Axolotl, Dragon Fish, and Shuniji from 20% (vanilla) to 10% to be more consistent with other Overworld music. And also 'cause they're really loud normally.
  • Lowered the volumes of A Familiar Room, Bromeliad, Crescent Dunes, and Echo in the Wind from 40% (vanilla) to 15% on the menu.
Technical Changes
  • A Familiar Room now plays in sound event music.game_and_wild_favor_game with the default subpack enabled.
  • Changed pack UUIDs since this version is pretty different from the previous.
  • Reorganized and commented sound_definitions.json.
  • Added music.game.soul_sand_valley to sound_definitions.json. Just in case.
  • Added music.game.grove and music.menu to sound_definitions.json.
  • Added music.game_and_wild_favor_game, music.overworld.flower_forest, music.overworld.jungle, music.overworld.jungle_edge, and music.game.nether to sound_definitions.json for command reasons.
  • The default subpack is now stored in the main pack instead of overwriting it.
Java Edition Support!
  • Renamed pack from just "Cornbread's Music Fixer" to "Cornbread's Music Fixer (Bedrock Style)"
  • Pack is now compatible with Java Edition!
  • Java Edition support does not change the lengths of the periods of silence between music tracks from vanilla due to limitations in Java Edition.
  • Java Edition support uses Mangrove Swamp music in regular Swamps due to limitations in Java Edition.
  • Java Edition support does not interact the same way with the playsound command as the Bedrock support, due to limitations in Java Edition. Instead of making certain biomes actually use music.game, the Java Edition support instead simply replaces the tracklists of the biomes' respective sound events.
  • One More Day plays on Frozen Peaks in both editions.
  • Creative Mode tracklist is identical to vanilla in both editions (Java Edition plays Survival Mode music as well while Bedrock doesn't).
  • Java Edition support retains the change in music volume this pack brings (that's what makes it "Bedrock Style"). For a version of the pack that has loud music like on vanilla Java Edition, check out the "Java Style".
  • Java Edition support explicitly extends from game versions 1.20.2 to 1.20.4, but the pack is mostly technically compatible with older versions.
  • Menu music breaks when using game versions the pack does not explicitly state it has compatibility with. For this reason, it is recommended you use a pack version made specifically for the game version you are running. Music may also break in snapshots.
