-This may not be used often but if you are playing an evil themed adventure map this would add a bit more effect to it :)

Also what i look for most is a texture pack is different ores so make the ores look cool!

An Idea i was thinking of is that water should be blood! and redstone is like a trail of blood and wool should still be alll the same colours but a bit darker
