Features:

This resource pack is now primarily a collection of models to then apply to your items using Data Pack or Mod.

Dependency:

This pack will not do anything without a Data Pack or Mod with which to apply item model definitions, I recommend & use ModelApplier by Ewan Howell.

Compatibility:

Version 26.1+ is fully compatible with any other resourcepack/mod you may have installed.

Resources:
Discord Server
Recommended Item Frame Data Pack (Furniture only displays properly in invisible Item Frames)
Item Guide for previous versions (available on Modrinth)

Usage License:

As long as proper credit is given, the contents of this pack can be used in any way.

Credits:

Mojang for making Minecraft
SixFootBlue/Blue Haven for starting ItemBound and inspiring me to work with resource packs
Teoxex's Revamped Archery for the base of all bows/crossbows in this pack

Update #14: 26.1+ [New Dependency!] : by betaklerik 06/05/2026 1:21:24 amJune 5 @ 5:21 am UTC

- Moved entire pack to no longer with without some method of applying Model Definitions to an item in-game (I recommend ModelApplier by Ewan Howell)
- A couple texture tweaks I think? (I've been working on this for a while and was bad at documenting)
- Re-added the following items: elytra_bed, elytra_broom, elytra_cobweb, elytra_cardboard, elytra_glass, elytra_hecteye, elytra_hand, helmet_giftheadgreen, helmet_giftheadred, helmet_giftheadwhite, bow_viper, amethyst_flail, amethyst_whip, garnet_gauntlet, garnet_knuckle, scythe_dark, scythe_light, painting_arcadia, painting_mona, painting_scream, painting_starry, painting_sunset, poster_steveu, shield_hylian, shield_rose

TLDR: I have switched how the pack fundamentally functions. From this version onward, I will not be updating/supporting the previous method.
Unfortunately this new one DOES rely on a Data Pack or Mod to function, but the previous method was extremely painful to maintain/update, didn't support ARMOR or ELYTRA without a mod, and was incompatible with any other pack using the same method.
This new method is far easier to maintain, DOES support ARMOR & ELYTRA, and will not interfere with any other Resource Pack in your Minecraft client.

Does it need Optifine, or does it use the new vanilla features?

The most recent version requires a datapack or mod to apply model definitions to an item. The 1.21.11 and older versions on Modrinth use the vanilla renaming feature :)

Shouldn't it be the opposite?

history
by the way, i am making a pack that needs Optifine, but it also changes items based on enchantment and name, for the items, do you recommend I make it the Vainlla way or the Optifine way? Because I would like the pack to at least work partially if the player couldn't use Optifine

that is entirely possible through vanilla item definitions, but will not work for armor & elytra. it's also a pain to set up, so good luck

Hii, glad to see you’ve picked up the itembound project I enjoyed so much in the past! So far as I could see I don’t see a loot table section on your updated version. I’m starting a server with a few good friends in a month and if it’s no longer supported I will myself update the 1.12 loottable addon to work in the newest version and then add some of my own ideas to the newer mobs. If you’re interested I would like to share what I end up making with you to maybe implement it for everyone on here? Let me know and then I will get into contact with you about it :)

much love

You're welcome to do that of course! I haven't dipped my toe into Data Packs yet, they scare me. I may some day, but it won't be that kind of add-on most likely. :)

Also there is an update planned soon that will change the way the custom models are applied, if you want you can join the Discord for details.
