How to install Minecraft Resource Packs

this is my first texture pack guys so tell me if you like it! these are the installation instructions:
mac (1).go to library/application support/minecraft/bin
(2).theres a file called minecraft.jar. take off the .jar and put .zip
(3).once you get the minecraft folder from it; add on a .jar
(4).open the folder and scroll down until you find a file called terrain.png
(5)take the terrain.png and drag it on to your desktop and put in the new terrain.png
(6) run minecraft
any other computer 1.go to %appdata%
2. go to minecraft/bin and open minecraft.jar with a .RAR thing
3.drag the new terrain.png in to that folder
4. run minecraft
ps. if your minecraft stops running correctly or you want a new texture pack, just delete the bin folder.

Try to make different texture packs. Maybe ones that aren't so similar to the original? Try and make the ores different, that is always the block that catches peoples attention. Make it smoother, those are the best. I can understand if you like this kind of pack, but if you want the most downloads, spend some more time on your texture packs.
