This small resource pack overwrites the block states files for all fence types to not include the middle post, similarly to how walls behave.

Compatibility trouble-shooting


Because the hidden fence posts still cull some blocks next to them, some blocks also got their block models overwritten to remove the culling in those directions. Therefore, this pack may collide with other resource packs that edit any of the following block models:
  • Fence posts
  • End rods
  • Hoppers

In case a collision like this occurs, possible effects are that it looks like the vanilla model instead of the model given by the other resource pack, or that the block still looks like the other creator intended, but they can still cull when next to the changed fences. Neither of these effects can be called especially grave, but if they happen, it is good to know why it happens.
If you see the vanilla models despite the model being supposed to be changed, you can set the other resource pack to have a higher priority than mine in the resource pack selection menu.

Is there a way to edit the models so that they would act more like walls? So if there was a block on top it would make posts, but otherwise you could make several layers high. I really like the long fence idea but it reaches a point where you want more support posts and I would be really cool to just place a piece of string on top to make a post like you can with walls.

Unlike walls, fences sadly don't have any information on what is above them. The only thing they have for that would be culling, but that would only allow you to remove some faces when there is something above them rather than the other way around.
