Igtarr's Noteblock Soundfont

This is a Soundfont for use in the open-source, free music notation software known as MuseScore. Using this bundle, you can create "vanilla-alike" songs using Minecraft's Noteblock sounds in place of regular instruments!

Included with this download are 16 Soundfont files: one for each of the possible instruments. I have found that you get better results when manually mapping the instruments yourself, which is why they are packaged separately. Here are some tips for making your music sound like it could have come from a vanilla Noteblock contraption:
  1. Use a believable note range for all of your instruments! A few notes outside of the normal Noteblock range will likely go unnoticed, but the samples quickly become very harsh and bad-sounding when they are pitch shifted too far. Don't be afraid to shift parts by up to several octaves to get the sound you want.
  2. Get rid of articulation marks, drastic dynamic changes, etc.. Obviously these are not possible in-game, and they make your samples start to sound very unnatural.
  3. Set the tempo to correlate with what is possible to achieve with "Redstone ticks" - Some possible tempos (in BPM) include 300, 200, 150, 120, 100, 85, 75, 60, and 50.
