Requires Optifine!
So, I had this thought, why are there zombie piglins in the nether? And, why do Piglins zombify when traveling to the overworld? And what's the deal with warped fungi? Why are Hoglins scared of them and portals? There must be a connection.
So, I came with this theory:
What if nether fungi was the cause for zombification? A parasitic fungus that makes piglins wander around the nether to move its spores. Which would explain why Zombie Piglins aren't hostile to Piglins, as zombie humans are hostile to players. They are not the same kind of zombie.
Now, warped fungi must have to do with dimensional travel, as endermen are in the warped forest the most, hoglins fear warped fungi and portals, and well, the name, warped, showing that this biome and fungi have been distorted from their natural nether form.
So, naturally spawning Zombified Piglins will have crimson fungi growing from them, and if they are to spawn in the overworld, or a piglin zombifies in the overworld, warped fungi will be growing from their bodies.
Hope that you enjoy this Resource Pack, it was made with a lot of care!

There are various add-ons to this texturepack, including a Connected Textures version, a modded version, and stuff like that, they should be linked in their page, or check the profile of the Owner.
Would the mushrooms only be red or blue?
Or nothing works without optifine?
However, that being said, it would still be cool to make them infected with the fungi, but unfortunately I believe that the model for the hoglin and zoglin is not working properly with blockbench (where I modeled the fungi), so currently I can't make infected zoglins, but maybe one day!
