Different doesn't mean bad and pride is about being proud of who you are without being ashamed of it
If not for the fact that gay people are discriminated against your friend probably would have to hide who he is

my point still stands, plus not being yourself just becouse of other poeple and always comforting to their expectations is a perfect way to live a boring, miserable life, so you might want to reconsider this approach (in regards to everything, not just being gay)👍
