Older MC versions had a different texture for grass blocks when the graphics were set to fast, making the side texture having the same, high saturated green on all biomes.
This was removed since 1.9, when the side grass texture overlay (that changed colors depending on the biome) would no longer become invisible on fast graphics.

The resource pack, even if it happens to be tagged as outdated inside of Minecraft on versions past 1.20.1, will work on any modern version.
