That is what happens to the water when it is 8x8 as the quality goes away from transparency. It makes the game faster this way too.

Oh I hope you didn't lose your world. If you do then a top tip from me:
Go to your saves which is in the folder just before the texture pack folder and check what the name was of that world or if u can remember just make a new world with that same name. If your lucky you will be on that same map! :)
