128x VERSION OUT NOW! CLICK HERE TO GO THERE!
It has a bit less detail but it's much more FPS friendly, I promise!
The 128x version is recommended unless you have a very very beefy pc, in that case I didn't say a thing.
Just to give a practical example, I own a GTX 1080ti AND use shaders, my fps did way better with the 128x pack.
INTRODUCTION:
When I play chess I never like it when pieces completely change in appearance, sometimes it's so much they become unrecognizable and it confuses my actual gameplay, you know these awesome but completely impracticable star wars sets etc. Well the same goes for Minecraft... on the other hand it is nice to have everything look a bit more fancy.
This texture pack gives the illusion that blocks and entities are a bit more tangible, as if they are detailed toy blocks. By giving everything a bit of a 3Dish looking texture you get the idea that if you could touch that stuff irl it wouldn't be smooth but would have different surfaces. Imagine grabbing that sexy face of a hoglin and kissing it, you could feel it's cute pimples on your blocky lips. Combined this all with a shader (which is not mandatory at all) it all becomes just a bit more enhanced and nowadays looking without losing the trusted Minecraft look we all know and love so much.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Optifine 1.16, not mandatory but highly recommended.
PLEASE TURN OFF ALTERNATE BLOCKS IN OPTIFINE 1.16 FOR THE BEST RESULT!
Why?: The lighting comes from one direction, alternate rotating ruins this effect a little.
How?: Go to: Options > Video Settings > Details > Alternate Block: OFF
THE TEXTURE PACK FAILS TO LOAD IN OPTIFINE 1.16
DEDICATE 6GB RAM (OR USE THE 128x VERSION OF THIS PACK) CLICK ME TO GO THERE
To add more ram to Optifine open your Minecraft launcher and go to installations
Then click on the three dots next to the play button > Edit > more options:
Scroll down and in the jvm arguments box change whatever -Xmx?G says to -Xmx6G (or even 8 if you can).
It will not fail to load now but you have to have at least 8gb ram to make this work.
ENDERMAN AND SPIDERS ARE BLACK AND MAGMA CUBES AND BLAZES ARE TO BRIGHT?
This occurs with certain shaders, just download the mini texture pack below and put this above vanilla 3D layers
in your active texture pack list. Now the enderman, spiders, magma cubes and blazes should look normal again.

ENDERMAN, ENDERDRAGON, SPIDERS, PHANTOM, MAGMA CUBE, BLAZE FIX FOR SHADERS
Sildur's Shaders recommendation:
I recommend giving Sildur's Shaders a try, it’s not insanely demanding although shaders always are an impact for pc's. The settings explained below make it not too dark at night and in caves (like in almost every shader for some reason) and it makes light not so intense yellow (also like in almost every shader). You end up with a vanilla like color scheme that has way better lighting than vanilla but not everything looks like your drowning in a glass of fanta while wearing shades. In the end it all comes down to personal taste of course.
In the shader selecting menu choose:
Shader Options… (right lower corner of the screen)
Colors... > Contrast: between 2.6 - 3.0 > Water Colors > water alpha 1.0
Fog options > Underwater fog density 150.0 or even 200.0 > Underwater color tint: OFF
Emissive Light > Minimum Light:0.004 > red: 1.7 > green:1.0 > blue: 0.5 <- has the most effect on the look
Motionblur... > Motionblur: OFF unless you like it of course
THIS PACK IS ACTIVELY UPDATED: It's 100% finished, really every texture in the game has been done and I mean EVERY texture! But now and then I still improve stuff, iron out little errors I may come across etc. I love feedback because this gives me the change to fix things I missed, or just show me some love, I need love :D

Actually I really did use shadows but in Photoshop. I was thinking about doing a real 3D effect, but there are already packs that do that and non of them ever seem to be a 100% finished because it's even more work than this. Also a huge factor is that most people's pc's cannot run that stuff without completely making minecraft almost unplayable. So I came up with this almost 2 years ago now, I must admit it was inspired by other texture packs that kind of did the same thing but again none of them where ever finished or even above 50% or so.
With 2 Texture or more at the same time ...........
With this texture ............................................... .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................
The 256x is very very demanding! The 128x version is more than 4 times smaller so try that one please, I hope this will work out for you.

It does seem like an interesting thing to look into, but having textures connect does not really sound like vanilla and I try to keep true to that. What we like is not something everyone like of course. In the past I had randomly colored mobs and colored glass without textures, just color. But a lot of people pm me on how to remove this because it's not vanilla :P
The randomly colored mobs will one day become it's own pack though.
