This pack is made for the 1.17 client and 1.19 server using ViaBackwards!

[ ! ] The aim of this pack is to add the new 1.19 item/block textures in 1.17 using Optifine!
  • This is useful for servers that want to let players from 1.17 join their 1.19 server using ViaVersion & ViaBackwards.
  • The pack is built to work with ViaBackwards item names in a plug an play manner. (giving credit is appreciated but not required)

[ ! ] About This Pack
  • Although this is only visual in the inventory it improves gameplay by a mile, for example, while organizing items in chests.
  • This was originally a rough pack made for testing/private use. The pack might have an actual use for everyone now
[ ! ] What's to come?
  • compatibility with versions lower than 1.17 (possible but not that useful)
  • plugin for servers to fix some pack behaviors (only if the pack becomes too popular)
  • forking the ViaBackwards plugin to make the textures work without Optifine (I've had this in mind for a while now)
  • modifying the forked ViaBackwards to replace blocks textures when placed
  • ^ (can be done but textured blocks would look weird near stairs, slabs, walls etc. that can't be changed)

Made item names case insensitive, added ? and * wildcards
Recovery Compass & Spawn Eggs are still not textured.

Thanks for the package. When the work is 100%, will the owners of version 1.16.5 connecting to 1.19.2 server be able to view the blocks properly?

yes but it may change to work without optifine when everything is 100%

It's for players using 1.17 or lower to connect to 1.19 servers using ViaVersion & ViaBackwards. There will be added lower compatibility later. 1.16.5 kind of works but there are items missing because VB replaces some 1.19 items with 1.17 items.

I used to play a lot on my 1.16 server with 1.12 and now 1.17 on my 1.19 server. There are mods that do not work with the latest version, my hardware wasn't that great in the past, and many small things that caught up with time.
I'm also looking into making this work withouth Optifine and the next few months will get a lot of updates. Hope it works well for you and thanks for the support <3

almost all mods i try to use in 1.19 crash my game so i have to use 1.17 and this helps with the blocks being dinfrent and i use it on a server
