Most likely this will be shot down, but figured I'd make one to see if maybe things are different, but recently I changed my name then changed it back (it was a small thing that took a bit of weight off my shoulders) and noticed it went from 1 month to 3. I know the system's in place to keep people from spamming it as it breaks links, confuses people, etc. but could there be some ease off on the lengths? I understood it would be incrementally to which i figured it would add a month at a time and I thought it fair. After seeing this, I just thought "that's a bit much."
My suggestion is make it go up a month, maxing out at a year. Name changes are fun and all, but I know a couple people who've had to waste a use or two (myself included) to avoid some real life threat. I know you can always ask a super about it, but oftentimes it doesn't really warrant pestering them over a maybe stalker and they can do more important things like handling death threats and people kind of just want to disappear. Again, just my thoughts on it, would have wrote this earlier but it really didn't seem that big of a thing.
I don't know if it's not allowed to comment on tickets 2 months after being made without a bump or anything, but I support shorter time increments regarding changing names. I made a a big mistake changing my name last night, and now I have to wait till' August apparently to change it back ;/
I can't speak for all the mods, but IMO you should always be able to contact our staff team for things like this (name change because irl stuff), even if you don't want to go very into the details of the issue.
Not against shorter time increments though, I don't really mind as long as it won't cause spam.
and this was meant to be public ;-; why is it not that by default?
