When you first spawn, you'll be in the three biomes. The the left of you is the desert where there's all the sand in the world you need! To the right is where part of the swamp biome is. There's plenty of wood there. Maybe you can make a treehouse? And infront of you to the left is the snow biome.

If you sail the great ocean behind you, you'll find a desert biome even larger than the one you spawned near, near the end of the desert, you'll find yourself the great lava pit that lights up the night.
