Okay, there are many things to talk about when it comes to Minecraft and crossbows. At the moment, Minecraft has only one damage doing ranged weapon, the bow. The bow has a pretty short draw time, and the drop is quite substantial at long ranges. With a crossbow, it would have a much higher damage, as well as a longer range without drop, but it would also have quite a long redraw time compared to the bow. And some new enchantments should be added to vanilla minecraft, like Bleed, and one that deals with redraw time. Crossbows would be a great addition to Minecraft, and should be added with 1.8.
