Shout Out To Phantom! She edited it!
Once upon a dark, gloomy day, the old man sat in his wretched cave. The old man loved his cave dearly, which others thought he was blind for thinking it was magnificent. This old man, however, was special. Magical. He himself, was a god, in reality, which was taken for granted all through life. Day after day challengers came, for "Life's Meaning," what which the old man will give. One day, a boy in a white suit came to the old man. The old man was deep in thought. The boy, eager to discover the meaning of life, interrupted him.
"Give me everything, I'll buy it off you!" He demanded.
"Very well then... find me a shiny rock, rather a shiny stone, which will not be high as peaks nor deep as the ocean". The old man said, unfazed by the boy's rudeness. The boy nodded and left, confused by the meaning of the old man's words. He searched and searched, yet could not find anything. Fortunately for him, he had power, lots of power. He went to his parents, who thought themselves as gods. They talked and talked, argued and argued. Eventually, after a lot of convincing. They had bought the shiniest diamond in the entire kingdom.
Satisfied, he rushed to the old man. He was back in his cave.
"Done!" He gasped, slamming the diamond down at the old man's feet. This wasn't what the man looked for. He gave back the diamond.
"Done! You have been afflicted with what you deserve."
"What?"
"My boy, you are done." The old man said matter-of-factly. Nothing had happened? Why? What did he do to deseve that? The boy stormed out.
And so on, day after day, people challenged the old man, desperate to find the coveted meaning of life. All of them failed.
One day a poor man, malnourished and with ragged clothes, came to him.
The old man told him what be had told everyone, "Find me a shiny rock, rather a shiny stone, which will not be high as peaks nor deep as the ocean". Although, this poor man, could not find the shiniest rock, he made up for this by finding something else. He went with the dullest rock. That said, after climbing up and reaching the old man, the old man said, "I see, you understand the full meaning."
"What meaning?" asked the poor man.
"Money can't buy everything, there is no shiny rock."
"Whaa?"
"Although, a promise is a promise. I will grant you with what you deserve."
Nothing had happened...What could that mean? But wait, the poor dreadful man, who regretted living the way he did, felt happy. Happy... Happy? This was something he thought he wouldn't feel again... And then he understood what it meant.
The poor man thanked the man, and ran out, a lively spring his step and smile on his face.
